「泰阜村 山峡工芸（やすおかむら さんきょうこうげい）」
工房内容は、草木染と着物生地の袋物を作る工房です。
草木染用に使用する布は購入していますが、染料と水は村内産です。
染料に使う植物は採取しています。
草木染で仕上げた布は、ほとんどの場合、色無地で作品に仕立てますが、ごくたまに、染布に布用の絵の具を使ってペイントを施すこともあります。（※写真右：「ポタジェやすおか（こんにゃく製造）」の暖簾の作成風景）
草木染で使う植物は、本土で見かけるごく一般的なもので、特別珍しいことはありません。しかし泰阜村のユニークな地形と手付かずの自然のおかげで、植物のある地質や水の成分など、また昆虫やコケ類・地衣類の接触のあり方も手伝って、同じ植物でも少し違う色合いを染める時もあります。地域に順応した植物の不思議に、毎回新鮮に驚かされる草木染を愉しんでいます。
山峡工芸で使用している植物は、大体が樹木です。
草の葉茎も使うことがありますが花は使いません。
それは、染める布の質が木綿だから、という理由があります。木綿を色よく染めるために豆汁を使い、相性の良い樹木を使うようにしています。
草木染の布も、着物生地の布も、「泰阜村の色」と捉えて制作しています。
作る袋物は主に手提げです。日常で使いやすいものを・・・と思ったら、どうも毎回手提げを作ることになりました。
ショルダーバッグやリュックサックも
もちろん日常で使う人は大勢いますが
肩から提げるよりも掌ににぎる袋もの
が、つい使いやすい形のように思えて
それで大体が手提げです。
着物生地は、泰阜村の村民の方から提供頂いた和服生地を使用しています。消防団の古い法被をはじめ、反物・帯・浴衣を再利用で使います。
素材もさまざまで、木綿・絹・麻・綿麻・人工繊維があります。なかには100年以上も前の生地もあり、頂く折に経緯を聞いて驚きます。これらの生地の織は別の地域のものだと思いますが、ずっと以前にこの村にやってきた布が、村の人の祭事を飾り、年月を重ねていたと思うと感動してしまいます。
今年半ばから一人で作業しているため、なかなか思うようには制作が進みませんが、「手を抜かず、手を込ませすぎずに」をモットーに、一つ一つ時間をかけて泰阜村の色を身近な形に仕立てる日々です。

Plants used for plant dyeing are common ones found in the mainland, and there are no special rare things to do.
However, thanks to the unique landscape of Yasuoka village and unspoiled nature, it is also possible to help with the geological features of plants, the components of water, etc. and also the way of contact between insects, mosses and lichens, when even the same plant can dye a slightly different color There is also.
I am pleasantly surprised by the trees that are freshly surprised in wonders of plants acclimated to the area every time.
The plants used in the Sankyo Kogei are roughly trees.
I may use grass leaf stalks, but I do not use flowers. Flowers are difficult to dye in color.
That is because there is cotton dyed fabric. I use soybean extract liquid to dye cotton fiber with good color, and use trees that are compatible with this.
Kimono fabric is used from the villagers of the Yasuoka village.
I will use the old coat of the fire brigade, Kimono, Obi and Yukata for reuse.
Materials are also various, there are cotton, silk, hemp, artificial fiber.
Some fabrics are over 100 years ago, and I am surprised to hear stories.
I think that the weaving of these fabrics is in another area, but the cloth that came to this village long ago adorned the village people's festival and was touched by thinking that they were years old.
